Kroger Technology & Digital, like many organizations, is in the beginning stages of its accessibility journey. Past audits of our digital products have exposed that similar accessibility issues have been repeated year after year. We realized teams needed to be trained on the basics of accessibility in order to effectuate real change. Initial attempts at training used the typical slide presentation format and lasted thirty minutes to an hour. Engagement in accessibility after the trainings was not what we hoped for, and we had limited resources to continuously train teams. We had to find a way to build empathy and train product teams on accessibility in a fun, interactive way that maximized the impact and best utilized the presenters’ time. Enter the Accessibility Snack Talk: 15 minute, snack-sized, immersive trainings conducted during our established accessibility office hours, with a look behind the scenes of accessible design and a new topic every other week. Instead of using the typical Powerpoint slide, we created simple HTML pages to demonstrate the material and provide the opportunity to look directly at the code that creates an accessible experience and tie that back to their role in the development process. In this session, we will guide our audience through the formation of the Snack Talk: how and why we got started, the topics we tackle and methods we use, the impact it has had on our teams at Kroger, and how we see it expanding our acce
