Accessible Systems: Shipping Software that Enables

Date & Time
Thursday, March 16, 2023 - 11:20 AM PST
Location
Platinum 7-8
Description
Say "goodbye" to audit, remediate, and repeat. Your users deserve better. In this session, we'll discuss how we've stopped thinking about accessibility in this reactive way at REI and how you, too, can start building a better system to deliver software to your users. An "accessible system" that ships inclusive software by default. We'll demonstrate how we are using systems thinking to reframe the accessibility conversation at our company — from something extra our developers do to a model that enables every product team member to contribute. The result? Accessibility isn't something different to prioritize, but rather how we do our existing jobs more inclusively.
