38th Annual CSUN Assistive Technology Conference Has Concluded
How to Implement Accessible Website Carousels
- Date & Time
- Wednesday, March 15, 2023 - 9:20 AM PST
- Location
- Platinum 7-8
- Description
-
A common feature of modern websites is what many refer to as sliders or carousels—a rotating banner of information resulting in "scenes" of text, images, and call-to-action buttons designed to navigate people to specific content. And though these are widely popular, they most often result in accessibility and compliance issues, hindering access to information for those using screen readers or other assistive technologies.
In this session, attendees will learn the key techniques to identify when to use carousels and how to ensure they are accessible to all users. Allyant experts will provide a real-time demonstration of screen reading software and the outcomes of accessible and inaccessible carousels in action and provide an alternative, fully accessible solution.
