Changing Faculty Mindsets on Accessibility in Courses
- Date & Time

- Description

Faculty often wait until they receive a request for accommodation to consider accessibility in their courses. The majority of our faculty at the University of Maine lack training, awareness and time to design accessible courses. In fall 2021 and fall 2022 we ran a faculty development program around digital equity and e-inclusion to change faculty mindsets on accessibility in courses. In this presentation, I will introduce the two iterations of the program and discuss its impact on the participants' mindsets and on their courses. I will also discuss the changes we made to our program based on feedback we received from participating faculty and I will share the current version of our program with the audience.
