Various disability legislation exists to ensure employees with disabilities have equal access to everything from the hiring process, use of all internal systems and communication within an enterprise, requests for accommodation, training and Helpdesk support. There have also been great advances in Assistive Technology (AT) for persons with disabilities for greater access to IT systems, standards around how to make complex websites accessible and tools for monitoring the accessibility of web sites and remediating documents. However, providing seamless support to the employee with a disability in all these areas, what TCS Access calls the “last mile of accessibility”, can be daunting for enterprises. Such support requires extensive planning, support from many individuals and internal teams and continual monitoring. Based on its decades long experience working in enterprise environments with Employees with Disabilities, management and Helpdesk support, TCS Access created this session to help enterprises understand the expertise and processes they need to fully support their employees with disabilities.
