80% of Higher Education content is being delivered in EPUB 3. This session, designed as a comprehensive introduction for beginners and an update for the advanced, will cover the basics of modern publishing standards using EPUB 3. We cannot cover everything, but we can explain what every educational professional should know, and we will provide a comprehensive list of resources that will be invaluable.
The European Accessibility Act goes fully into effect in 2025. It requires all digital publications be accessible, or it cannot be sold! Higher Educational publishers serve a global market, the accessibility of the EPUB 3.3 Standard, including the “EPUB Accessibility Conformance and Discoverability” portion, is having a profound impact on the uptake of adoption by the whole publishing industry. Major publishers in the US have been leading the transition, and the rest of the publishing industry is scrambling to meet accessibility requirements. This migration to Born Accessible publishing sets the stage for our presentation.
