Wix is a large website-building company with over 220 million users and over 6000 employees. The Wix website builder offers a complete solution from enterprise-grade infrastructure and business features to advanced SEO and marketing tools, enabling anyone to create and grow online. We provide our users with all the tools and functionality to create high-level, accessible websites, from accessible templates, presets, to tools to audit their own sites for accessibility issues. With so many users making such a big impact on the internet (~5% of all websites online), we are faced with great challenges, responsibilities, and opportunities in our mission to impact and improve the accessibility level of the internet. An accessibility issue with one Wix product actually affects millions of sites, but when we fix an issue we improve the accessibility of millions of sites at once. This is one of our greatest strengths as a platform and something that has a huge, immediate impact. While we can provide accessible components and frameworks, we can’t actually control what our users do with them Accessibility isn’t accessible - WCAG is complicated and hard to understand, so it’s even harder to explain it to both our users and our employees Challenge of scaling - Making only one site accessible isn’t a solution.
