Description

The Master of Science in Assistive Technology Engineering (ATE) program is designed for those who are moving ahead with their careers in this interdisciplinary field or are changing careers who see their future in biomedical engineering and assistive technology. This degree program is a joint effort among three colleges: the College of Engineering and Computer Science, the College of Health and Human Development, and CSUN’s Tseng College: Graduate, International, and Midcareer Education. Among the distinctive features of this program is the collaborative effort of the design and delivery of the curriculum, drawing upon the academic strength of a number of departments and at CSUN as well as the professional expertise or selected practitioners in the field. The program’s core curriculum covers the essentials of anatomy, human factors, and innovative solutions. The program is firmly rooted engineering design and development including applied biomechanics, robotic applications and control interfaces, augmentative and alternative communication, software development, project management and, increasingly, the potentials of AI and autonomy research. The ATE master’s degree program is unique in the nation, and it is gaining interest from the greater Los Angeles area and beyond. It is fully online, so it can engage students from an increasingly broad geographical area.
