COVID-19 and other traumatic events have put a spotlight on unfinished learning, especially in our underserved communities. Literacy Skills that a teacher might expect students to have are not as developed and present access and equity issues regarding engagement with grade level content. It is essential that gaps in literacy skills be closed so that students are prepared for the grade level skill competencies expected at the next school level.
A review of the latest research and testing data will be reviewed. In addition, research proven techniques that support student success, such as acceleration and social emotional learning will be discussed. This session will explore the top technological tools that are designed to increase student skill development and mastery. Tools that will support decoding, encoding, comprehension, vocabulary, and written expression will be explored.
