This presentation’s main focus is to discuss the benefits of combining DIY and “off-the-shelf” AT to make accommodations and/or modifications in the workplace setting to allow individuals to be as independent and efficient as possible. The first part of the presentation will discuss and demo ideas of AT for individuals with varying impairments (sensory, cognitive, physical and mental health) in multiple types of employment settings and jobs. The process for AT decision making will be reviewed as well as ways to consider and use various levels of AT including DIY, low, mid and high tech. When discussing DIY options, multiple materials and methods will be showcased. The second part of the presentation will discuss how combining the DIY and purchased AT can be beneficial in the work setting via case studies. The presenter will use videos and images to show and discuss various AT possibilities
