The University Student Union invites all Matadors to unite for Moving Forward Together: Steps Towards Unlearning Colonial Ideologies in Higher Education— an opportunity to discuss the widespread effects of colonization and the importance of decolonizing our minds, education and power while acknowledging varying experiences of diasporic communities. This proactive virtual gathering is the perfect place to collectively acknowledge our power and environment while building a deeper sense of community. We hope you can join us for an important and timely discussion on feminist responses to Islamization and imperialism. While the conversation will consider Afghanistan, our speakers will also discuss their research and activism in relation to Iran, Pakistan, and Iraq. We will address some the ways in which Islamization, imperialism, and women's rights are entangled, and consider the possibilities for political action and transnational feminist solidarity. Read more
