Lights, camera, action! Moorpark High students get hands-on filmmaking experience through innovative media production program

When Ray was a student at Newbury Park High School, he got a video camera and started making movies with his friends just for fun. His passion led him to earn a degree in art with an emphasis in photography from California State University, Northridge. After college, Ray spent many years shooting corporate videos for companies including ANSgear in Simi Valley, which makes paintball sporting equipment, and automotive company Wilwood Engineering Inc., which manufactures high-performance disc brakes in Camarillo. -- VC Reporter

Transue is an Antelope Valley native who studied journalism at California State University, Northridge, and graduated from the University of Akron in 2015 with a degree in mass media/communications and a minor in photography. Doyle-Martinez graduated high school in 2006 and played basketball at Sacramento City College. After two years, she transferred to California State University, Northridge and majored in Gender and Women's Studies with a focus on Chicano Studies. She said at that time, she wanted to know more about her family's history and her Indigenous roots in México. Cornell Reid to record comedy special

Growing up in Arcata, Reid performed with Jean Bazemore, who went on to found the Northcoast Preparatory and Performing Arts Academy. At 18, he enrolled at California State University, Northridge, where he was cast in a major role in the Steve Martin play, “The Picasso at the Lapin Agile.” A friend of his invited him to do stand-up and it was love at first mic. -- Times Standard
