Growing up in Arcata, Reid performed with Jean Bazemore, who went on to found the Northcoast Preparatory and Performing Arts Academy. At 18, he enrolled at California State University, Northridge, where he was cast in a major role in the Steve Martin play, “The Picasso at the Lapin Agile.” A friend of his invited him to do stand-up and it was love at first mic.
