Attend Funded Workshops/Conferences/Seminars

Through a grant from the U.S. Department of Education, the Supply Chain Management Project is now offering stipends (free) to all Business Majors for attending supply chain workshops, conferences and seminars. These events will:

Enhance your networking opportunities with business leaders in the field of supply chain management
Provide you with insight to trends in the field of supply chain management and global logistics
Sharpen your skills in the field of supply chain management

To request funding to attend any of the events listed below or any supply chain management related event not on our list that interests you, please follow the steps below.

 

1. Request and complete the Award Request for Attending Supply Chain Management Events Form and submit the application to the Supply Chain Managemnet office in JH 4130 or email to internationalbusiness@csun.edu . An application must be submitted to the Program office before you attend any event.
2.
Wait for an approval email to be sent by the Supply Chain Management office.   
3.
Schedule your attendance to the event with the organizer.
4.
Pay the attendance fee (ask the organizer if they offer a student discount).
5.
Submit your original receipt to the Supply Chain Management office in JH 4130.
6.
Wait 2 – 3 weeks after your submission of the original receipt to receive a reimbursement check through the mail.

Miller will discuss how terminals will check TWIC cards, how trucks will be turned away, what will happen if your drivers do not have their TWIC cards activated, what measures are in place to keep truck traffic moving, and what enforcement policies your drivers will confront. The April 15th date is a federal deadline and this date will not change.Wargo will update attendees about a PierPass recent announcement to cutback on one PierPass gate, the impact on PierPass fees, and which gate will be cut. He will discuss the PortCheck progress report on collection of clean truck fees. Senecal will discuss CARB's April 2009 adoption of new standards for gasoline and diesel. Learn about the 2010 fuel reformulation and how it will impact your company. Panelists will discuss the status of the Clean Trucks Program, Clean Truck Fees, POLA Incentive Program, Joint Truck Center grants, and Driver Truck Registry (DTR). eModal will be replaced with Natoma Technologies to supply the permanent DTR, on schedule for July 2009. Natoma will interface with CARB's DTR for marine terminal compliance with the state port truck rule. CARB has developed innovative air quality loan programs to provide financial assistance to truckers affected by the Heavy-Duty Truck Rule and SmartWay Rule. Banks will discuss CARB funding programs and compliance timelines for applications.

1) PAT for the Food and Drug Branch by Dr. Laurence R. Upjohn, California Food & Drug Branch
An overview of the document "FDA Guidance for Industry PAT" as used by the California Food and Drug branch (FDB) is presented. The discussion covers FDA guidance documents on Software and how they apply to FDB inspections.

2 ) Deploying PAT on a Foundation of Lean Six Sigma: Baxter's perspective by Serj Vartanian, Baxter This presentation summarizes Baxter BioScience's PAT deployment strategy over a foundation of Lean Six Sigma. The slides demonstrate how Baxter's PAT vision ties into the existing Operational Excellence strategy and deployment structure. The presentation defines operating mechanisms and standard tools and templates that drive harmonization and a systematic progress.

3) PAT - Current Challenge and Future Prospective in Bioprocess by Dr. Jennifer Liu, Amgen
The goal of PAT in biopharmaceuticals is design of efficient and robust manufacturing processes that assimilate built-in quality assurance, product quality attributes and controls of critical process performance. PAT integration in bioprocess depends on the advancement of technological innovation in PAT-enabling analytical tools. The case study applies PAT in process development and manufacturing operations.
