It is recommended that students and faculty update their iPad to the latest version of iOS 8 as long as all the apps being regularly used are compatible with the latest operating system. This information can often be found on the app description in the App Store. CSUN has tested a variety of popular apps used on campus for compatibility with iOS 8; see the list on the Apps page.
When in doubt, students should ask the professor if they are unsure about updating a device or an app. However, it is important to note that first generation of the iPad will not run iOS8 and there have been some known issues of slowness with the iPad2.
