Greetings Matadors!

As a member of the graduating classes of 2019-20 or 2020-21, it is my great privilege to extend a heartfelt congratulations to you upon achieving this important milestone. You have or will be completing your degree during truly extraordinary times. I commend you for your resilience and celebrate your Matador spirit during even these challenging times. Bravo!

We appreciate your patience as we explored all the options for a safe Commencement experience during this COVID-19 pandemic. While nothing would please us more than to be with you in person, after careful consideration of the health and safety of our graduates, families, and other members of the CSUN community, I am writing to confirm that we will be celebrating your graduation during a series of virtual commencement ceremonies in May 2021. We look forward to making this a memorable virtual experience, including a main all university ceremony to recognize distinguished graduates and confer all degrees, as well as individual virtual college ceremonies at which the name of every participating graduate will be read aloud while their individually customized photo tile is displayed on screen.

To help you better prepare for this opportunity and discover more about the experiences we are planning for you, please visit the Commencement Website. There you will find the Commencement Schedule, timeline on what to expect in the upcoming months and information on Gradfest where you will be able to order announcements, rings and other items to mark this important milestone. If you have any questions about this year’s virtual ceremony and associated processes, you are encouraged to review the list of FAQ’s. Any questions that are not addressed there, feel free to connect with us at commencement@csun.edu.

Again, we applaud you on achieving this great milestone, and we look forward to the honor of celebrating you at Virtual Commencement!

Sincerely,
Dr. William Watkins

Vice President for Student Affairs & Dean of Students
