Creating Educators
Our project seeks to model concrete, implementable strategies that span the grade levels, content levels, and ability levels. Candidates in the Accelerated Collaborative Teacher (ACT) Education Program will learn the pedagogy, then participate in an activity that applies the theory for an elementary population, accompanied by a metacognitive narrative. Candidates will then participate in the same activity, modified for a secondary content area and grade, accompanied by a metacognitive narrative. Finally, the candidates will participate in the same activity, modified for a special needs student population with a metacognitive narrative.
Anticipated Outcomes:
1) Tangible curriculum/activities to use in student teaching
2) Deeper connections between theory and practice
3) Participation in cross-level, cross-content learning
4) Practice modifying activities/strategies for diverse classrooms
