Instead, Alan continued studying math and science. He majored in biology at Cal State Northridge, putting his childhood love of aviation on hold. His hard work got him accepted into a Mexican medical school. Unfortunately, he says, “I hated every minute of it.” Semsar felt he was not cut out for medicine and left after a year. He returned home to his disapproving parents.
