What Puts a College at the Top of the WSJ/THE Rankings?

The racial and ethnic diversity of students and faculty, the percentage of undergraduates awarded need-based federal Pell Grants and the percentage of international students are factored in here. This factor accounts for 10% of a school’s overall ranking. La Sierra University, a small Seventh-Day Adventist school in Riverside, Calif., is number one in this category, followed by Rutgers University-Newark in New Jersey and California State University, Northridge.
