Quintero has been the only and same teacher of the group. It began as a private guitar class in the 70's at the home of a student, who is still in the group, and it grew with every invitation Quintero gave to acquaintances, charging them one dollar per person. She says she started giving classes out of necessity, since she was a student at California State University, Northridge.
