Let’s Grow Healthy Summer Projects

By Kelly Nicole Rodriguez

The Let’s Grow Healthy team will be delivering workshops virtually via their Instagram, Zoom and YouTube platforms throughout the Fall 2020 semester.  They are currently recording videos on how to start and maintain a garden at home, from selecting a location through the harvesting process.  They will also be teaching about soilless gardening and will discuss the differences between systems and how to build your own system at home, as well as how to start seeds, harvest, and everything in between. The Let’s Grow Healthy team also plans to showcase different herbs that are grown in the MMC Wellness Garden. In these videos, participants will learn the history of each herb, related wellness tips, and how to incorporate them in your diet. One of their main goals is to teach community members how to start and maintain an urban organic garden – no matter how big or small – right at home.  Follow along with the Let’s Grow Healthy team this fall as they start a garden from the ground up and discuss a variety of herbs that will not only add flavors to your food but can provide many health benefits!
