Preferential treatment based on the color of a person’s skin persists, despite Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination based on one’s race, color, religion, sex or national origin. While there are studies on the role skin color plays in the treatment of African-Americans, little research has been done on how skin color impacts Latinos and Asian-Americans.
