Song-Brown Grant to Expand Diversity in Nursing

CSUN Nursing received a grant from the Song-Brown Registered Nurse Education Program. The $240,000, two-year grant will help increase the diversity of California's healthcare workforce. For 20 years, CSUN Nursing has been committed to addressing health disparities and reaching out to students from traditionally underserved communities. Read more

Create a Legacy Through Scholarships: Laurence and Ethel Young Scholarship

Kyle Salcedo wants to be a physical therapist specializing in physical education for people who use prosthetics. He just got closer to that goal thanks to a scholarship from the Laurence and Ethel Young Scholarship in Kinesiology. Salcedo is a fourth year Kinesiology/Exercise Science major who is passionate about his future. The late Laurence Young was a professor of Kinesiology in the physical education option for many years. He and his wife Ethel established a planned gift to CSUN, and that means that the Youngs’ legacy will continue to live on at CSUN through student scholars like Salcedo. Read more

The high demand for Physical Therapists is projected to continue over the next 20 years as our baby-boomers age. With the growth of the profession, requirements for employment have increased in scope. As of 2015, the new entry-level requirement for Phyiscal Therapists in California is the Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree. CSUN anticipated this need and met it. Read more
