Rainbow Wahine Softball hosts final home series this weekend

The University of Hawai'i softball team (21-23, 5-10 Big West) returns to Manoa this week to host their final homestand of the season. The Rainbow Wahine will take on the Matadors of CSUN in a three-game conference series, beginning on Friday, May 4 at 6:00 p.m. and concluding with a doubleheader on Saturday, May 5 at 2:00 p.m. Friday night will be "Power in Pink" night in recognition of breast cancer awareness. There will also be an Autograph Session after Friday night's game. Saturday will be Senior Day for five players who will be making their final appearances at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium-Danielle Garcielita, Jordian Hicks, Courtney Hiruko, Dana Thomsen, and Rachael Turner. -- KHON - HI

Daily News Boys Athlete of the Week: Blaine Traxel, Alemany

Noteworthy: The Cal State Northridge-bound pitcher was the catalyst for Alemany’s big week against Notre Dame. Traxel threw over 90 pitches and struck out five batters in the Warriors’ 3-2 win Wednesday. He also had three hits. Alemany closed the week with a 7-5 win Friday to take second place in the Mission League. Traxel had a hit and scored a run in Alemany’s 10th win in its past 11 games. -- Los Angeles Daily News

UCSB Water Polo Takes 5th in Big West With Sudden-Victory Decision

Annie Mortimer scored the game-winning goal in the third sudden death period to lead the UC Santa Barbara women's water polo team to a thrilling 10-9 victory over CSUN in the fifth-place match in the Big West Tournament at the Anteaters Aquatics Complex on Saturday afternoon. -- Noozhawk
