Managing your Website - SED 646
Download the SED 646 Template - Download the zipped SED 646 template from the class website. This folder contains the entire directory structure for your website.
Install website development tool - Download and install the appropriate website development tool.
Answer questions- Build your website using the files in the folder by typing (or copying and pasting from a word processor) text into the documents of the template. Each assignment has a separate folder and, and each folder has an index page. Answer all questions on the index page.
Formatting - Apply heading-2 to question titles. This will make them stand out.
Add supplemental documents - Add relevant documents (ppt, xls, doc, pdf, plist, mov, mp3, etc.) into the appropriate folders of your template.
Build links - Make links to your supplemental documents and external resources using the link tool in your web development software.
New pages - Make new pages as appropriate. Each folder has a series of blank pages (1.html, 2.html, etc.) that are already correctly formatted. You can use these files and link to them from the index page in each assignment.
Check your udrive - You will put your assignments on your Udrive. Follow the instructions to set it up. You will need to use VPN if you are using a wireless computer at CSUN, or any computer off campus. Note: The newer versions of Dreamweaver have SSH which makes it unnecessary to use VPN. You will need to use VPN if you are using Kompozer from a wireless computer at CSUN or from any off-campus computer
Upload your website - To upload your website so others can see it, drag the files from your flash drive to the public_html folder in your uDrive. Only those files in the public_html folder can be seen by others. If you already have a website, you will want to put all of your 646 files in a 646 folder within the existing website, and link to the 646 index page from the home page of your existing site. If this is your first website, you can move the entire contents of the 646 folder (not the folder itself) from your flash drive directly into the public_html folder.
