California for Educators

Welcome to Geography 417: California for Educators.  This is a very challenging course.  It was designed primarily to help pre-service elementary school teachers prepare to teach 4th grade social studies, which is focused on the history and geography of California.  Ideally, you would have a class on California's History and one on California's Geography, but in the interest of making the liberal studies/ ITEP program fit within 4 years, compromises must be made.  Still, you need to learn a lot of things to teach 4th grade and we have only a few short weeks to help you prepare....and in an abbreviated semester environment, that is made even more challenging.  So, buckle up and get your crash helmet and reading glasses on because we'll all need them.
