Purpose

The Instructing Students & Supporting Learning task illustrates how you work with your students to improve their scientific inquiry skills and strategies as well as knowledge of science concepts.  It provides evidence of your ability to engage students in meaningful science tasks and monitor their understanding.

Overview of Task

  1. Examine your plans for the learning segment and identify learning tasks in which you are supporting students as they are actively engaged in collecting and analyzing scientific data.  The data may be collected directly by the students or selected from data collected by others.
  2. Videotape one or more of these tasks.
  3. View the video(s) to check the quality, analyze your teaching, and select the most appropriate video clips to submit.
