Patricia Cabral is currently a second year graduate student in the General Experimental Psychology program. Patty began her post secondary education at Cal State Northridge as a Psychology major where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree while involved in CSUN’s Behavioral Medicine Laboratory funded by the National Institutes of Health which she has currently taken the position of lab-coordinator. Her research interests include the trajectory of health-risk and harmful behaviors (i.e., sexual risk and non-suicidal self injury) and the associated mental health outcomes. Patty’s ultimate goal is to obtain a faculty position within an institution enriched by cross-cultural and dynamic research. She aspires to conduct research that will provide an understanding of the factors of health-risk behaviors such as sexual risk and non-suicidal self injury in order to one day make an impact to reduce the incidence of the negative health outcomes associated with these behaviors. Additionally, Patty aims to provide the same support she has received from various mentors and advisors that contributed to her success to future scholars.
