Faculty Collective-Stephan Chung

Stephan ChungDr. Stephan Chung is the Chair of the Gerontology Interdisciplinary Program at California State University, Northridge. He is also a RIMI Tiered Mentor Scholar for AY 2012-2013. Dr. Chung has a background in Health Policy/Planning and Health Informatics and does research in issues related to end of life care and health informatics. Before coming to CSUN, he had served as the research director for a RIMI at an institution in Illinois. He has published extensively in peer reviewed journals and given many presentations at professional health services research conferences. He has also focused on racial disparity in hospice care and care giver issues. Because of these efforts, he received the Minority Issues Research Award by Aging and Public Health of APHA in 2005. Currently, he is trying to complete two projects as RIMI sponsored projects: 1) looking at state policies on hospice facilities. 2) Increasing awareness about Hospice care among Mexican Americans in Greater Los Angeles. In doing project 2, he is trying to produce a video in Spanish to educate the elderly Hispanic population about hospice care.
