CSUN to Host Fourth Annual Folklor de Mexico

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., March 20, 2007) — The public is invited to join in a celebration of Mexican culture through dance, music and theater at the fourth annual "Folklor de Mexico" on Friday, April 13, at Cal State Northridge.

The event, sponsored by Ballet Folklórico Aztlán de CSUN, will take place from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in the university’s Plaza Del Sol Performance Hall on the east side of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge.

The evening will feature dance and musical performances from the states of Jalisco, Michoacan, Zacatecas and Costa de Sinaloa. Performers include Ballet Folklórico AztlÁn de CSUN, Danza Mexica CuahutÉmoc, Teatro Aztlán, Ballet Folklórico Las Estrellitas, Paso De Oro Dance Company, Rayos Del Sol and Mariachi Alma de Mexicó.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the Associated Student Ticket Office at (818) 677-2488.

The event’s sponsors include CSUN’s Department of Chicana/o Studies, Associated Students, Inc., the Union Program Council and CSUN’s Educatonal Opportunity Program.

Ballet Folklórico AztlÁn de California State University, Northridge is a community-based student organization. The organization has performed at many events throughout the Southern California area both on campus and off, including at public and private schools, churches, private function as well as at such community events as Universal City Walk’s "Latin Jam." Among BFA de CSUN’s goals is to educate the community about the rich and diverse Mexican culture through their performances.
