Dr. John Garcia and "The Future of Handwriting" Conference

March 11, 2019

Professor Garcia is helping put on a conference next month, April 12-13, at the University of Louisville on "The Futures of Handwriting." Their goal is to "bring together an interdisciplinary array of scholars working in media theory, book history, literature, history, library and information sciences, art history, and other fields." Professor Garcia was on the organizing committee, put together a panel, and will also present research on black laborers in early U.S. publishing. The conference will be made up of a diverse group of people talking about handwriting and manuscript cultures in Europe, Britain, America, Asia, and the Islamic world from the early modern period to the present.
