The PCIP clinic is staffed by graduate students in the Clinical Psychology Master of Arts program at CSUN and are supervised by a licensed clinical psychologist.
Dee Shepherd-Look
Clinical Director
Dee Shepherd-Look received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from University of California, Los Angeles and joined the Psychology Department at CSUN in the fall of 1970. For the last 14 years, she has trained graduate students in clinical psychology and served as the Chair of the M.A. Program in Clinical Psychology at CSUN. Dr. Shepherd-Look holds a license in psychology in the state of California and in addition to her professorship, she is the Director of the Omega Center for Mental Health in Woodland Hills. She has specialized in the assessment and treatment of child and adolescent psychopathology; couples and family therapy; and parent education. Jeannette Torres
Clinical Psychology, Student Director and Lead Instructor - CSUN PCIP
Jeannette Torres is the Student Director and a lead instructor for the CSUN PCIP Clinic. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from California State University, Los Angeles. She is currently in her third year of obtaining her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from CSUN. Her work with children started when she served as a mentor for inner city youth in which she served as a positive role model to help build self-esteem and motivation. Jeannette currently conducts research in the Infancy and Early Childhood Lab at CSUN under the mentorship of Dr. Holli Tonyan. Aside from her academic work, she works in human resources at a non-profit organization that provides services for children and families. Avishai Zacharia
Clinical Psychology, Lead Instructor - CSUN PCIP
Avishai Zacharia is a lead instructor for the CSUN PCIP Clinic. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in the study of Economics and Psychology from CSUN. He is currently a graduate student in the CSUN Clinical Psychology M.A. program. Before Avishai began his academic career in California, he served in the Israeli Air Force for a year after graduating from high school. Avishai is currently involved in three research projects under the mentorship of different faculty at CSUN: the role of brooding as a mediator between parent-child interactions and mental health outcomes, foster care programs’ efficacy, and a cross-cultural examination of guilt-proneness. Baldemar Soto
Clinical Psychology, Lead Instructor - CSUN PCIP
Baldemar Soto is a lead instructor for the CSUN PCIP Clinic. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from CSUN in 2012. He is currently completing his Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology at CSUN. His educational and professional goals are to complete a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and have his own private practice. Baldemar currently conducts research in the Adolescent and Adult Adjustment Lab under the mentorship of Dr. Scott Plunkett. As a lead instructor for the PCIP clinic, Baldemar has co-led classes in both English and Spanish addressing the following topics: communication, parenting styles, and different stages of parent growth. Baldemar’s clinical and research interests include father psychological control, gender, self-esteem, and generation status within the Latino adolescent population in relation to depression. In his free time, Baldemar enjoys playing video games, reading comics, and longboarding. He also enjoys playing the Native American flute and listening to different types of music. Dana Campagna
Clinical Psychology, Lead Instructor - CSUN PCIP
Dana Campagna is a lead instructor for the CSUN PCIP Clinic. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Antioch University in 2011. He is also a Certified Addictions Treatment Counselor (CATC) from the California Association for Alcohol and Drug Educators (CAADE, 2011). Currently, Dana is completing his Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology at CSUN. He is also in the process of applying to Ph.D. and Psy.D. programs in Clinical and Counseling Psychology throughout California and the country. His career goals include to practice clinical and counseling psychology based on the scholar/practitioner model, and to teach clinical psychology at the University or Professional school level. His current theoretical, research and population interests are: therapy modalities for shame, trauma, and resiliency; counseling and community activism for the LGBTQ population; parenting, foster and adoptive care; LGBTQ families and gerontology; psychotherapy and co-occurring diagnoses in addiction treatment; mindfulness training, somatic experiencing, and attachment theory. Dana has served as a Drug and Alcohol Counseling Intern for the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center, the Jeff Griffith Youth Center for homeless and at-risk youth, the Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics Mental Health Center, and the Alternatives/Rainbow Bridge Dual-Diagnosis Treatment Facility in Los Angeles. He is currently interning under licensed supervision at the LAGLRC, facilitating early recovery group therapy sessions and seeing clients in individual counseling for early addictions recovery, and the Parent Child Interaction Program focusing on psychoeducational groups for caregivers in the Los Angeles County Foster Care System. Michael Petrosyan
Clinical Psychology, Lead Instructor - CSUN PCIP
Michael Petrosyan is a lead instructor for the CSUN PCIP Clinic. He completed his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Currently, he is on his second year of obtaining his Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology at CSUN. His educational and career goals include completing a Psy.D. and have his own psychotherapy practice. His research interests relate to addiction, autism, and sports psychology. As a lead instructor for the PCIP Clinic, he has co-led classes addressing the following topics: psychosocial education, differences between apathy and empathy, charting through behaviors, and how boredom can lead to problem behavior. Patricia Escobedo
Clinical Psychology, Student Director - CSUN PEERS Program
Patricia Escobedo is currently in her second year with the PEERS program at CSUN. Patricia serves as the PEERS Student Director and also has one year of experience as a PEERS teen group leader. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from University of California, Berkeley and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology at CSUN. Patricia is also in the Teacher Intern Program and currently serves as an instructor for Psychology 150: Principles of Human Behavior at CSUN. Her education goal is to earn a Ph.D. in Health Psychology and continue conducting research that examines the psychological wellbeing and health behaviors of adolescent and emerging adults among multicultural, underserved, and understudied populations in Los Angeles. As an undergraduate at UC Berkeley, Patricia served as a research assistant with the Expectations and Schooling Lab and the Institute of Personality and Social Research Lab where she assisted with research that investigated the cultural mismatch of minority students during the middle school transition and the affective displays of empathy and distress among interracial friends. At CSUN she served as a research assistant with the Stereotype and Intergroup Prejudice Lab and currently serves as the Lab Manager for the Linguistic Minority Developmental Research Lab under the mentorship of Dr. Janet Oh. At CSUN, she has assisted with research projects examining stigma and prejudice, ethnic identity formation, parent-child relationships and psychological well-being among adolescents and emerging adults. Sarkis Garabet
Clinical Psychology, Teen Group Leader and Behavioral Coach - CSUN PEERS Program
Sarkis A. Garabet is a teen group leader and behavioral coach for the CSUN PEERS Program. Currently, Sarkis is pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology at CSUN where he also earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Sarkis’s educational goal is to continue onto an APA accredited doctoral program focusing on the practitioner-scholar model. His career goal is to become a licensed psychologist serving individuals, couples, families, and groups through the utilization of counseling methods and psychotherapy. Currently, he holds the title of direct care provider, working with children and teens with autism. His clinical practicum experience includes psychological testing and behavioral coaching. At present, Sarkis is working on his thesis under the mentorship of Dr. Scott Plunkett. He is focusing on Armenian adolescents’ and emerging adults’ perceived parental acceptance and rejection in relation to their perceived self-esteem and self-deprecation. Anna Mkryan
Clinical Psychology, Parent Group Leader - CSUN PEERS Program
Anna Mkryan is a parent group leader for the CSUN PEERS Program. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles. Currently, she is completing her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology at CSUN. Her plan is to continue onto a Psy.D. program with the goal of becoming a licensed psychologist. Anna has worked as a research assistant for the Parent Child Interaction Lab at CSUN under the mentorship of Dr. Dee Shepherd-Look. Her research interests include the effects of guilt and shame on the coping strategies of parents of children with various disorders. Anna has also gained experience counseling female adolescents with severe mood and anxiety disorders. Outside of academia, Anna enjoys hiking, visiting national parks, playing sports (e.g. tennis, basketball, volleyball), discovering new music, and attending concerts. Kimberlee Marsh
Clinical Psychology, Teen Group Leader - CSUN PEERS Program
Kimberlee Marsh is a teen group leader for the CSUN PEERS Program. She received her Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology and a certification in serving at-risk youth from California State University, Fresno in 2013. Currently, she is a first year graduate student in the Clinical Psychology M.A. program at CSUN. Her ultimate career goal. Her ultimate career goal is to obtain a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and teach at a university while conducting research in addition to having her own private practice. As a teen group leader for the CSUN PEERS program, Kimberlee helps teens with autism and other disorders learn social and relational skills. Her clinical interests include serving at-risk youth especially within impoverished communities. Kimberlee served as a program coordinator for the organization Fresno Street Saints whose mission is to restore Southwest Fresno to a safe and healthy community. Outside of academia, Kimberlee enjoys traveling, reading, and writing poetry. Athina Danilo
Clinical Psychology, Teen Group Leader - CSUN PEERS Program
Athina Danilo is a teen group leader for the CSUN PEERS Program. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from CSUN in 2013. She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology at CSUN. Athina’s career goals include pursuing a doctorate degree and becoming a clinical psychologist who provides therapy to children, adolescents, and young adults with various mental disorders such as depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, bipolar, eating disorders and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. Currently, Athina is working as a research assistant for Dr. Scott Plunkett at the Adolescent and Adult Adjustment Lab at CSUN. Her current research work involves identifying factors related to the mental health and academics of adolescents and emerging adults from diverse cultures and ethnicities. As an undergraduate, Athina gained experience as an experienced listener on the CSUN Helpline. As an experienced listener, Athina utilized therapeutic skills to help community callers cope with issues related to various topics such as depression, suicide, loneliness, financial troubles, drugs and addiction, child abuse, and rape. As a teen group leader for the CSUN PEERS Program she provides social skills training intervention for adolescents. In her free time, Athina enjoys painting, writing poetry, exploring new places, and spending time with the lovely company of her friends and family. Diana Velez
Clinical Psychology, Teen Group Leader - CSUN PEERS Program
Diana Velez is a teen group leader for the CSUN PEERS Program. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from CSUN. Currently she is working on completing her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology at CSUN. Her educational goal is to earn a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and her career goals are to practice psychotherapy and research contextual factors related to anxiety and depression in adolescents and emerging adults. Diana has been working as research assistant in the Adolescent and Adult Adjustment Lab at CSUN under the mentorship of Dr. Scott Plunkett where she has assisted on several projects related to adolescent and emerging adults’ well-being.
