Description: Introduction to the instructional uses of the internet, text processing, graphics, desktop publishing, educational software, electronic reference tools, teacher support tools, spreadsheets and other software applications and related media. Use of such applications to access and evaluate information, analyze and solve problems, and communicate with other professionals. Strategies and skills to enable teachers to prepare their students to be life-long learners in an information-based, interactive society. Meets technology education requirements for the Preliminary Credential..

Assignments & Grading:
This course will be a variation of the standard 514 course which has been taught for many years. There are 10 assignments that will be turned in at the end of the semester (see below). Students are encouraged (and in some cases required) to submit drafts of their assignments to the teacher to review during the semester. Submitting an assignment to review does not count towards the grade, and the teacher is not responsible for lost assignments - SAVE COPIES OF ALL YOUR WORK.

In addition to these 10 assignments there will be in class activities and discussion. Class participation is worth an additional 20 points (course maximum 250 points).

Class Policies:
1. Complete any assigned readings and responses before class.
2. Participate in class discussions, online discussions and activities.
3. If you are not going to be at class, please email me in advance if possible. If you miss class more than twice your grade will be lowered.
