In our laboratory, we use light to manipulate microscopic objects, investigate light matter interactions, and develop new biophotonic technologies. Light enables us to image cells and microorganisms, characterize the optical properties of biological and synthetic materials, and study how biological systems respond to optical exposure. Focused laser beams can also trap, move, and organize microscopic particles and living cells with high precision.
We control and shape light in space and time, develop novel optical micromanipulation and spectroscopy techniques, investigate light propagation through scattering biological media, and study the optical properties and biological effects of microplastics and nanoplastics. Our research combines optical physics, biology, and materials science to create new tools for biomedical imaging, sensing, cellular manipulation, and environmentally sustainable photonic technologies.
As a biophysics lab we work with many different specialties of physics and biology; Such as Lasers, microscopes, optics, microorganisms, cells, nanoparticles. We use cool optics techniques to investigate novel bio-optical phenomena and engineer new bio-photonic systems. If this sounds fun to you, contact us!
