About the Event:

Matador Move Out Donation Drive is a pioneering initiative at California State University, Northridge (CSUN), where Student Housing and the Sustainability Department will unite to establish a profound connection between sustainability and addressing basic needs within our community.

Our Mission:

Our primary goal is to reduce waste and promote sustainability by intercepting materials typically discarded in landfills during student move-out periods. By collecting gently used clothing, non-perishable food items, and reusable mini appliances, we aim to divert these resources from ending up in landfills and instead redistribute them to those in need within our campus community and local organizations.

How it Works:

During the designated donation period, residents of CSUN Housing Residential Halls are encouraged to donate their unwanted but still usable items such as clothing, canned goods, and mini appliances. Donation collection stations will be set up in residential halls for easy access and convenience.

Impact:

Through the Matador Move Out Donation Drive, we strive to make a meaningful impact in several ways:

Sustainability: By diverting materials from landfills, we contribute to the university's sustainability goals and reduce our environmental footprint.

Community Support: Donated items will be redistributed to various campus food pantries, clubs, and local organizations, providing essential resources to those in need.

Promoting Reuse: Reusable clothing & mini appliances and recovered food collected during the drive will find new homes and uses within the campus and local organizations, further promoting sustainability and resourcefulness.

Get Involved:

We invite all CSUN students, staff, faculty and community members to participate in this groundbreaking event. Whether you donate items, volunteer your time, or simply spread the word, your involvement makes a difference.

Join us in demonstrating the power of collective action and sustainable practices by participating in the Matador Move Out Clothing and Food Drive. Together, we can create a more sustainable and supportive community for all.
