The Data Champions Program brings together key faculty at CSUN in an effort to facilitate data-informed decision-making about how the university can improve graduation rates and eliminate opportunity gaps.  CSUN’s Matadors Rising Initiative includes two central components with regard to data-informed decision-making:  expanding data capabilities and leveraging existing analytic tools.  The Data Champions Program seeks to address these components by training each Data Champion to use the existing data tools and to understand how best to use the data to inform our institution’s efforts to improve student success metrics. 

Data Champions will therefore be empowered to identify potential predictors of and barriers to student success, to collaborate with colleagues to develop data-informed programs and initiatives in support of student success, and to train their colleagues to use the data tools.
