Copying and pasting graphics from the web
Most web pages are mosaics of text and graphics. Web pages (html documents) create windows in which graphics files (jpg or gif ) are inserted. You can acquire jpg and gif images simply by holding down the mouse cursor on the graphic (Mac) or right clicking on the graphic (PC) and selecting the copy option. Open the file you want to use (Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and paste the graphic where desired. Make certain to cite your references.
Citing Internet references
To cite files available for viewing/downloading via the World Wide Web by means of Netscape, Explorer , or other Web browsers, it is best to provide the following information.
- the author's name (if known)
- the full title of the document in quotation marks
- the title of the complete work if applicable in italics
- the date of publication or last revision (if available)
- the full http address (URL) enclosed within angle brackets
- the date of visit in parentheses
MLA format: Last name of author, First name of author. "Title of Page," in Website Name. <url> (access date)
