Observations: Make certain that you have the approval of the school principal and individual teacher before you begin this assignment. Take notes on the following.

Evaluation Form | Evaluation Form for Performing Demonstations

(a) Objectives: What were the objectives of the lesson? Were they clear? Do you think that the students knew the purpose of the lesson? If the objectives were unclear, how would you have presented the lesson to make them clearer?

(b) Organization: How well organized was the instructor's presentation? Do you think that he or she spent sufficient time planning for the class? How well was the specific lesson integrated into the entire unit being taught? Did the lesson flow logically or was it choppy? If it was choppy, how could it have been improved?

(c) Innovation: Was there any innovation used on the part of the instructor? Was the lesson presented in a fashion that would inspire learning? If so, is there anything that you could employ in your classes?

(d) Reasoning: Were the students encouraged to reason or was the lesson merely one in dictation? Do you think that the students were actually reasoning? In other words, how effective was the instructor in encouraging thinking, reasoning and participation on the part of the students?

(e) Student Involvement: To what degree were the students constructively involved in the lesson? Were the students interested in the lesson? If so, what captured their interest? If not, what would you have done to spark it?

(f) Respect/Rapport: How did the instructor relate to the students? Was there mutual respect? Was there good rapport? Was there anything in the way that they related that you would like to emulate?

(g) Effective Techniques: What techniques employed were the most effective? If some techniques were exceptionally effective, explain why you think that they were. If some techniques failed or were relatively inefficient, can you explain why?

(h) Time Management: How well did the instructor manage time? Was all of the class time used effectively? If not, how could the use of time be improved?

(i) *** Ideas*** Is there anything in the way that this instructor communicated with his or her students that you would like to adopt for your own classes? Is there anything that you would definitely want to avoid?
