Mission: The W.M.
Keck Laboratories serve as center of research and development for
professors in the School of Education who specialize in methods of
teaching science and mathematics. Each year,
professors train approximately 400 teacher candidates as well as numerous
graduate students using equipment provided by the W.M. Keck Foundation
as well as the curricular materials developed within the W.M. Keck
Laboratories. The W.M. Keck Laboratories serve as the host site for
in-service teacher training programs in conjunction with local school
districts and nationally sponsored projects (e.g. BFI, NSF, Beck,
etc.)
Funding:
The W.M. Keck Laboratories are Funded by the W.M.
Keck Foundation. "The W. M. Keck Foundation is one of the
nation's largest philanthropic organizations. Established in 1954
by the late William Myron Keck, founder of The Superior Oil Company,
the Foundation's grantmaking is focused primarily on the areas of
medical research, science, and engineering. The Foundation also maintains
a program for liberal arts colleges and a Southern California Grant
Program that provides support in the areas of civic and community
services, health care and hospitals, precollegiate education, and
