Instructions on how to access link: Forums

Online Responses to Introductions link in Moodle by December 23rd @ Midnight.

I will be emailing the class from time to time. I will use your CSUN emails to do so. Please make sure that you check your CSUN emails often (almost daily) -- or go to the ITR website to arrange for mail forwarding to an email account that you DO check.

This first day of the course may be used to familiarize yourself with the course, get the reader, sign up for Ms. online, and post your profile. I have spent a fair amount of time designing the course so information is easily accessible. Please take some time to read through the syllabus and schedule for the course.

Readings

  • Cherrie Moraga: "La Guera" - This piece was written about 30 years ago, and yet it contains some profound truths that we will be referencing throughout this course. Please read it with care, and as you are reading it, please highlight key quotes. We will be returning to this reading later.

Ms. - login to Ms. and flip through the latest issue of the magazine. Find one quote from the magazine, and include it in your introductory post. Tell us why you picked that quote and why it resonates for you (Please don't forget to include the citation for the quote you choose).

  • “The State(s) of Same-Sex Marriage: California and Massachusetts lead the way in challenging state and federal bans” by Audrey Bilger, Ms. Magazine. Fall 2010 issue. p. 12-13

I have created a Prop 8 Forum... where you can write through some of your analysis ... utilizing the readings from this week and from January 3rd to support your point and where you can post links to outside resources on the subject, etc.

In order to get credit for this Forum... you must do an Original Post (2-3 paragraphs) at least once... and then respond to at least two more of your classmates posts. However, I encourage you to use this Forum to really dialogue with each other - always with respect - and to bring together good resources for people on Prop 8.

Also, investigate iinformation on the repeal of "Don't Ask Don't Tell." How will the repeal of DADT impact issues like Prop 8?
