About Me

I am Associate Professor of English at California State University, Northridge, where I have taught since August 1999. I also taught at the University of Missouri, Columbia from 1997-1999. I received my MA at the University of St Andrews in Scotland and my PhD from the University of Cambridge in England. My research focuses on medieval language and literature from the Anglo-Saxon period to the fourteenth century, and I frequently participate in conferences around the world and have published in prestigious academic journals (see my research section). My early work was on the history of the English language during the Old English period, especially the development of its dialects. More recently I have worked on regional and cultural diversity in later medieval romance literature and historiography. At Cal State Northridge I teach courses on Chaucer and other Middle English literature, Old English literature, History of the English Language, and English grammar. I have also taught courses on Scottish Culture and on The Lord of the Rings.
