Awards and Scholarships
LA Chapter of the Cal Society of CPAs Scholarship: Awards range from $1,000-$10,000. Typically, our students win more awards than any other local school (USC, UCLA, etc). Let's keep up the tradition. Dr. Ron Stone will collect completed applications by April 4th. He also recommends that you attach: (1) a cover letter and (2) an unofficial transcript, to the application The letter from the .LA Chapter of the Cal Society of CPAs regarding this scholarship and the award application information sheet can be downloaded here:
- Accounting and Information Systems Award (forms can be downloaded form the Accounting Department website at www.csun.edu/acct/ :

All Accounting, Information Systems, and Pre-Accounting majors currently in ACCT 230 and beyond are welcome to complete and submit the application to JH 3123 no later than 4:45pm on Friday, March 9, 2007. The awards are generally $500 or more and there are usually more than forty awards, so completing the application and attending the event is worth the effort. Stay tuned for more details.

- Important message from Marjorie Housley at the Career Center:
-
Please note the excellent opportunities we have for Accounting students in the Career Center, particularly those looking for internships and/or full time employment. On-Campus Interviews
-
start next Monday, and some very big names in Accounting such as Grant Thornton and Deloitte & Touche have very low turnout on their Interviews; it seems that the students are not as much "on the ball" as they usually are. I would like to maximize the recruiting experience of all recruiters on campus,
"On-Campus Interviews begin in the Career Center Monday, February 19 and run through April 20. Many accounting firms will be attending OCIs to recruit for internships and full time employment - MOST employers will be coming during the first 2-3 weeks of OCIs. Many of these firms are also recruiting only through On-Campus Interviews, so students need to register with the Career Center Online to sign up. Students can register by going to our website at www.csun.edu/career and clicking the "Students" link, then "Career Center Online". If students have any questions, they may contact the Career Center at (818) 677-2878 or come into our office at University Hall 105 for assistance. Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to find an excellent job or internship!"
- This firm is looking for two interns (forensic accounting - sounds interesting): contact April C. Baker, CPA, CFE
