All assignments to be completed before class starts. Written assignments typed, double-spaced and stapled, 1 " margins all around, left justified--in MLA format to be uploaded on your Blogs.

  1. Project Text asks that you form groups of 3-4 to interpret a major text through close reading and research. Our “text” is Persepolis. We’ll approach this text through a number of critical sources, classroom presentations, discussions and activities, and individual student essays.
    Project Text requirements:
    • Critical reading
    • Group Presentation
    • LRC visit-extra credit
    • Individual essays (@ 1,500 words)
  2. Project Space asks that you form groups of four to consider the power relations implicit in public spaces. While space can be defined as urban, community, and personal, it may also be institutional (e.g., the museum, and university). We’re interested in how space shapes our conception of world, self, and other.
    Project Space requirements:
    • Critical reading
    • Fieldwork
    • Group/individual presentation
    • LRC visit-extra credit
    • Individual essays (@1,500 words) demonstrating scholarly research
  3. Project Web asks that you form groups of 3-4 to consider the power relations implicit in the age of the digital. We’re interested in how the multimedia experience shapes our conception of world, self, and other.
    Project Web Requirements:
    • Critical reading
    • Group/Individual Presentation
    • LRC visit-extra credit
    • Individual essays (@1,500 words; hardcopy for review and Web version posted on blog) demonstrating scholarly research
Final Portfolio - on your blogs!
    Being allowed to submit the portfolio will require:
  • Turning in all 3 major writing projects
  • Maintaining a grade of  C average (75%) in your classroom work
  • Successfully completing U062

Portfolio requirements consist of TBA:

  1. Three revised & polished essays including multimedia (from The Projects, one of which you may choose to submit to Wings).
  2. LATE OR INCOMPLETE PORTFOLIOS CANNOT BE ACCEPTED. NO EXCEPTIONS.
