CSUN’s Center of Achievement to Host 6th Annual Run, Walk and Roll

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., March 9, 2007) — Members of the public are invited to get off their couches, get away from the TV for a little while and join hundreds of faculty, students, and other members of the community next month as they "Run, Walk, & Roll" on Saturday, April 28, to raise money for Cal State Northridge’s Center of Achievement for the Physically Disabled.

The sixth annual event will begin at 8 a.m. at the corner of Plummer Street and Lindley Avenue. The fast flat course will lead participants, some in wheelchairs, all over the campus at 18111 Nordhoff Street in Northridge and into the community. The event includes a One Mile Wheelchair Roll, 5K and 10K Run and Walk and the Kids Fun Run.

The One Mile Wheelchair Roll will begin at 8 a.m. The second event, the 5K Run and Walk, will begin at 8:02 a.m. The 10K Run and Walk starts at 8:45 a.m. The last event, the Kids Fun Run, begins at 10 a.m.

Registration and fees are required for participation. The Kids Fun Run is $10. Pre-registration fees are $25 for the One Mile Wheelchair Roll, as well as for the 5K and 10K Run and Walk. Fees paid after April 23 are $30. The packet pickup will be at the race site from 6:30 to 8 a.m. Pre-registered packets can also be picked up Friday, April 27, at Northridge Toyota, 19550 Nordhoff Street, from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The race is organized by members of the FOCAS (Friends of the Center of Achievement and Supporters) committee and the Department of Kinesiology in collaboration with the Center of Achievement. Proceeds from the "Run, Walk & Roll" will support the center. The event is prensented by 99-Cents Only Stores.

The Center of Achievement is a non-profit organization that provides both land-based and aquatic adapted therapeutic exercise for children and adults with disabilities. The Center is part of the Department of Kinesiology in the College of Health and Human Development.
