(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., April 2, 2006) — The public is invited to join Cal State Northridge students for a free screening of the Academy Award-winning documentary, "An Inconvenient Truth," on Thursday, April 19.
The event is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. in the Northridge Center of the University Student Union on the east side of the campus off Zelzah Avenue. The screening, part of the campus’ Earth Week celebration, will be followed by a question and answer session moderated by environmental and occupational health professor John Schillinger.
"An Inconvenient Truth" has been making headlines since its release in 2006. The film, directed by Davis Guggenheim, features former United States Vice President Al Gore’s Power Point presentation on the impact of global warming on the Earth. It has become the third-highest-grossing documentary in the United States, bringing in more than $24 million. It won an Academy Award for "Best Documentary Feature" earlier this year.
The movie’s screening is being sponsored by CSUN’s Associated Students, the student government of Northridge.
While the screening is free, tickets are required. Tickets are available through the Associated Students Ticket Office in the University Student Union.
