(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., April 23, 2007) — Cal State Northridge’s top student choreographers will demonstrate their visions for the future of dance during a showcase performance on Thursday, May 3, at the university.
"Kinesis: Emerging Choreography" will take place at 8 p.m. in the Plaza del Sol Performance Hall on the east side of the campus off Zelzah Street.
Associate kinesiology lecturer Paula Thomson said the performance will showcase the rich and diverse choreographic visions of the students as well as the talent and passion of the university’s dancers.
"‘Kinesis: Emerging Choreography’ provides a glimpse into the art and life that is and continues to occur at CSUN," she said.
The evening will feature works by students Jenny Chapparro, Robert Dover, John Ghera, Carla Mills, Diana Huffman, Nicole Jones, Jacob Lyons, Derek McKay, Jessica Rawles, Evan Rosenblatt and Christopher Watson.
Among the event’s performers is Jacob "Kujo" Lyons, artistic director of Lux Aeterna. His company will perform a new work he created for the evening. Jazz percussionist Alex Smith will also perform as part of a "stomp" piece.
