Actor Stacy Keach to Appear on Special Edition of KCSN’s Arts & Roots Forum

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Sept. 28, 2007) — Distinguished stage and screen actor Stacy Keach will appear on a special edition of KCSN 88.5-FM Arts and Roots Radio’s acclaimed show "Arts & Roots Forum" at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10, to talk about the American premier of Bertolt Brecht’s "The Life of Galileo," in which he is starring.

"Arts and Roots Forum," a half-hour program featuring live in-depth interviews and in-studio performances, airs weekday afternoons at 4 p.m., with a rebroadcast every Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Host Martin Perlich said he was excited at the opportunity to share a conversation with an artist like Keach with the station’s listeners.

"Our goal with ‘Arts and Roots Forum’ is to present the very finest people contributing to the arts in Los Angeles," said Perlich, KCSN’s program director and author of "The Art of the Interview." "Mr. Keach has certainly dedicated his life to the arts, in particular drama and the theater."

Straight from London’s National Theatre, L.A. Theatre Works will present Keach and actor Julian Sands in David Hare’s streamlined version of "The Life of Galileo" for five nights only at the Skirball Center, Oct 17-21. The performances of Brecht’s examination of the conflict between faith and reason will be recorded to air as part of L.A. Theatre Works’ nationally syndicated weekly radio theater series, "The Play’s The Thing."

Keach is known worldwide for his classic film portrayal of detective Mike Hammer. He has been hailed by a New York Times drama critic as "The finest American classical actor since John Barrymore.’ He has received a Golden Globe for best actor, been nominated for Emmy and Tony awards and won three Obies, three Vernon Rice awards, the Helen Hayes Award and the Millennium Recognition Award for his outstanding contribution to classical theatre.

KCSN 88.5-FM Arts and Roots Radio is a nonprofit, member-supported public radio station broadcasting live from the campus of California State University, Northridge.
