(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Sept. 13, 2007) — The 1960s was a decade of peace and love. It was the age of youth as millions of post-war baby-boomers grew into young adults, abandoning the conservative ideals of their parents.
Cal State University Northridge’s Oviatt Library is hosting "Our Collective Memories: The Sixties," an exhibit featuring the sociological, cultural and educational lessons of the 1960’s. The display opened Sept. 4 and will continue to run through Oct. 7.
Librarian Susanna Eng, along with co-curator librarian Lynn Lambert, said the exhibit is an opportunity for the public to share.
"We hope that people carry forward the collective memories contained in the exhibit to appreciate the past and inform the future," said Eng.
The display is being held in conjunction with CSUN’s first ever Freshman Common Reading Program book, "The Things They Carried," by Tim O’Brien.
The exhibit is free and open to the public during regular library hours, Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The Oviatt Library is located in the center of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge. For more information contact (818) 677-2285.
