CSUN to Host Networking Panel for Alumni in the Entertainment Industry

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Sept. 11, 2006) -- Though many study the art of television and film in college, few are able to turn that learned skill into a thriving career in the entertainment industry.

The Entertainment Alumni Network at Cal State Northridge is hoping to help fellow colleagues navigate their way through Hollywood by hosting "How to Survive in the Entertainment Business" on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 7:30 p.m.

The newly formed Entertainment Alumni Network is working to reach out to as many entertainment industry professionals as possible by hosting a variety of events and activities for past graduates of the university’s Department of Cinema and Television Arts (CTVA). The panel will take place in the Alan and Elaine Armer Theater in Manzanita Hall, on the south side of campus, at 18111 Nordhoff St., Northridge.

Moderated by CTVA professor Michael Hoggan, the panel will be comprised of four Cal State Northridge graduates who have established successful careers in the entertainment industry: Jim Sharp, executive vice president of production at 20th Century Fox; Ed Milkovich, veteran TV producer and former executive at Turner Television; Keri Selig, executive producer of The Stepford Wives; and Gregory Poppen, writer of the ESPY awards and Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2.

"I am very excited that we have assembled such a stellar panel of alumni," said Jeremy Padow, president of the Entertainment Alumni Network. "Their insights about the industry will be very beneficial to other alumni and students."

A networking reception will be held at 6:30 p.m., with light refreshments and beverages. Guided tours of the campus’ new facilities will be available.

Admission is free. Those who wish to attend must register by Wednesday, Sept. 27 to julie.yurth1@csun.edu.

Parking is $4 and available in lot B3 located off of Darby Avenue and Prairie Street.
