(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Nov. 22, 2006) -- Studying abroad enriches an education both academically and culturally. Forty-two students from Cal State Northridge will add this experience to their collegiate careers as they prepare to spend the 2006-07 academic year in foreign countries.
These students are among dozens who have studied abroad through International Programs (IP), the system-wide program of the California State University. IP is affiliated with over 50 distinguished universities and other institutions of higher education in 19 countries and allows students to pursue coursework for CSU resident credit.
Currently in its 43rd year of operation, IP has been recognized by organizations such as the Council on Learning and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. An array of study options related to specific degree and career objectives are offered through IP.
"After studying abroad, students come back more independent and with a competitive edge," said Marta Lopez, CSUN’s International Program advisor. "This helps them later with graduate programs and whatever else they pursue."
Students participating in the program pay normal state university fees and are able to use any financial aid which they are eligible for. A course load of 15 units must be maintained by all students.
Northridge students will travel to the countries of Spain, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Ghana, Mexico, Denmark, Australia and New Zealand in the 2006-07 academic year. These students are:
